How to Submit Your Store to ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude
There's no official 'submit your store' button for ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Claude. But there are specific technical and content actions that make your store visible to each platform — and most Shopify owners haven't done them.
There's no official "submit your store" button for ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Claude. But there are specific technical and content actions that make your store visible to each platform — and most Shopify owners haven't done them. A Shopify accessories brand went from zero AI visibility to $9,100/month in AI-referred revenue after completing this setup.
For ChatGPT
ChatGPT's recommendations draw from OpenAI's training data and, for browsing-enabled queries, live web retrieval. To maximize your visibility:
- Verify your site is accessible to OpenAI's crawler (GPTBot) in your robots.txt — make sure you're not accidentally blocking it.
- Add your site to Common Crawl's index by ensuring it's well-linked from other sites. OpenAI's training data pulls heavily from Common Crawl.
- Create and submit a comprehensive sitemap through Google Search Console — OpenAI uses Google's indexing signals as one input.
- Add a llms.txt file so OpenAI's crawler gets a clean store overview on its first visit.
For Perplexity
Perplexity uses its own web crawler (PerplexityBot) plus partnerships with web index providers. To ensure Perplexity can find and cite your store:
- Check your robots.txt doesn't block PerplexityBot.
- Ensure your product pages load cleanly with server-side rendered content — Perplexity's crawler may not execute JavaScript reliably.
- Get your store mentioned in sources Perplexity trusts: editorial publications in your category, Reddit threads with genuine recommendations, review sites.
For Claude
Claude is trained on web data collected by Anthropic's data partners and relies on its training corpus rather than live retrieval for most recommendations. Getting into Claude's training-time awareness requires:
- Getting your brand mentioned in high-quality editorial content that Anthropic's training data includes — major publications, respected category-specific sites.
- Having a stable, long-lived web presence with consistent brand mentions across multiple sources.
- Building content that is genuinely useful and informational, not promotional — the type of content that gets included in AI training datasets.
The cross-platform baseline
For all five platforms, the baseline is the same: clean crawlability, llms.txt, schema markup, and quality content that answers buyer questions. Do those four things first, then layer in platform-specific optimizations. The accessories brand that went from zero to $9,100/month spent the first two weeks on the baseline and the next four weeks on platform-specific content. That's the right order.
